Hi all,
Changed the standard stereo in my 2002 hilux (cassette only) and wired up as required on my new stereo. Since I didn't have the wiring diagram, I tested the pairs of cables on the lux wiring harness by connecting to speaker on my deck. Eventually I figured out the fronts and wired in.
Now however my guage (and all the accessory LED's) lights don't work . I checked for voltage at the fuse and there is only .07 volts when I turn the lights on (possibly because it's an LED circuit??). The fuse is also OK.
Can anybody suggest a fix or has anyone experienced this before? Could it be because of an open circuit (at the deck) or is it more likely to be a stuffed set of wires?
Any help would be great.

HELP!!! Changed stereo, now no light to guages???

I made the same mistake, twice
Can't remember exactly what the problem was but i think i may have wired the stereo earth into the light loom (which acts as an earth when the lights are off). Some crazy Toyota engineering....
When your sorting out all the wires with your multimeter be sure to test them with the lights on and off, and with the ACC on and off. A lot of Toyota gear is negatively switched which I've found can make things confusing.
Check if your tail lights are working, too.

very common mistake, you have wired the radio earth to dash illumination circuit. it will have blown the tail fuse. connect the earth direct to metal part of dash, or similar, and you won't have a prob.

Killalux you're dead right!!
Wired the stereo ground into the green wire for the dash circuit. It comes out of the loom below the acc and battery power cables so it really does look like the ground cable. If you test it on the multimeter it also shows up as ground (runs 12V when connected to power).
I decided to look through all the fuses and ofcourse the tail was blown. Then I tested the green cable with lights on and it showed up as positive 12V. Strange how it changes polarity
Spent something like 5 hours (and 3 fuses) trying to work it all out .
Good search result for someone in the future I hope .
