help setting up a club
I am thinking of starting a 4wd club up down here in tassie. does anyone know the normal procedure. does it have to have any special affiliation paper work done or do you just let forestry and parks etc know you are a club to get keys for locked tracks etc.
For NSW, there is this site. I'm sure there is a similar process.

Yea...That's drivable.....You go first
Check out the equivalent of the Associations Incorporation Act. Every state has one. There should be some model rules in there. If not, the NSW model does.
Just make sure theres a non-profit clause in there i.e. a ban on distributions to members. There should be a clause to the effect "in the event of winding up, any surplus goes to a like minded organisation with similar objects"
You'll probably find that insurance is compulsory
After that its just a matter of joining the 4wd association etc as a club.

lots of hassles and $$ required..
then ... insurance..
no clubs around your place, usually easier to just join one
Where abouts in Tas are you?
I'm in the south...and i'm not a club member
Most of the clubs ive seen around down here are finatics or boring as f*ck
Mongrel 4x4 club: hard core not affiliated with national body a bit clicky if you know i mean
Derwent Vally club:...Mud racing....Mud racing.......did i mention they go mud racing.
Rockmore 4x4 club: good people who mean well ..boring as
Suzuki/rover: good people a bit tame
Cascade offroaders ont know anything about them?
theres ment to be one around huonville...?
Thats all i know about the clubs around Hobart there could be some more around.....BUT....just because your in a club does'nt get you KEYS to the Forestry or Parks/wildlife they really like to hang on to them.
Sorry if i Hung Sh*t on anyones club but that is my perception of them if you want my opinion to change, change image of your club

clubs
There are quite a few good tracks down here in tassie but the greenies are closing them quicker than roothie with a grinder with a dozen xxxx beers in him. All the same though you would be more than welcome to contact me for a trip. All my mates are into hard off road tracks and beer of course. as for the club we havn't formed an official one yet.Bluey wrote:ok, i realise this is an old thread.
