But in all honesty, I have no idea about the A/R and stuff... and what revs it would be usable at mate... I would love to upgrade mine a little down the track. :D

So the air is just getting too hot at higher boost? Therefore creating less power?

The compressor wheel and the physical size of the turbo just cant compress enough air at high rpm (well 3800) to feed the motor.
Every increase in psi should yeild a gain in bhp (10 bhp for every 1 psi in a petrol motor) as soon as it doesnt your out of airflow.

i wouldnt mind trying a turbo from a new terracan. ive driven one and they seem to have a lot of balls for a simular sized motor.
dont know if its the newer tech injection or what tho?

I'd say the Electronic common rail injection would do wonders for it, as well as the double overhead cam... It puts out 50kw and 100Nm more than my F78.. damn

In diesels, injection is everything.. its the defining factor in how good your motor performs.

If going a new turbo, I think you need to buy a quality ball bearing unit, not just another bush/roller bearing one that will cause the same issues.

You can get a turbo that will spool nicely to 3800rpm... but will it still boost nice and low for good torque? Mine hits full boost at ~1800rpm and stays at that up to 4k.
