transfer case not selecting 4x4

Post by imbear »

hello all, i have a 94mdl hilux sr5, it has electronic 4x4 selection, which wont select 4x4, when you push the button you hear the little motor on the transfer case running but doesnt select 4x4, what i would like to know, is there a common fault either in this little motor or some other possible cause, and does anyone no what that little motor is called.
any help would be great thanks

It's called a shift motor. They can get water and dirt inside and sometimes corrode. Have a search on the Surf Site for more info. Never pilled one apart myself.
