SD33 out of fuel, now won't restart

Post by Rosey55 »

G'day all,

I ran the truck dry yesterday by mistake. I filled the tank up, and started pumping the lift pump. I have cracked the fuel inlet to the fuel pump and am now getting a steady squirk of fuel out as I pump. I have been turning the engine over in 5-10sec bursts many times and can't get the girl to start.

any tips from anyone??

thanks
ryan

crack the injectors and crank the car little bursts at a time untill fuel comes out the thread then tighten each one back up.
if it starts leave it run and tighten each injector as it starts to work

if you have a cav filter unscrew the glass bowl and let any water or gunk drain out. more'n likely it's full. if not, replace your other fuel filter, and do what the bloke above said. crack each injector and bleed em.

if you're still having problems get someone to tow you with the engine turning over under compression (i.e. get a tow-start but then just let them tow you in second gear), eventually she'll come good. that's what happened to mine, got my girlfriend's dad to tow me for about 500m then all good again.

ok I cracked each injector one by one and finally got fuel out, then it started. It ran soo rattly for ages. I had to bleed the air out of each injector while the engine was running, it appears to be getting better and better the more air that is released. There is one injector which doesn't seem to want to purge all the air. I ran it for 20mins last night and there was still white frothing air bubbles comming out the thread. Should I be concerned about this?

thanks for everyones help

cheers

im pretty sure theres a correction sequence to doing it, i think you have to start at the one first in line from the pump (I think its the injector at the front of the engine) and work backwards towards the firewall?

otherwise, go find a heavy trailer, hook it up and give it a solid thrashing, she'll come good :)
