Have a look around calaisturbo.com.au

There is heaps of good stuff available for these motors and they have a good 4 sale section

If I was in your position I would at the very least go E.F.I.
It will give more power, better throttle response and allow you to then modify futher(more ignition timing/cam...etc).

I know you dont want to turbo but thats the only real worthwhile mod.
If your hands on and know what your doing $2000 would get you a complete vl turbo(damaged) and thats all you would need for a full conversion.

efi, extractors,2.5" exhaust and a k&n filter make a big difference.
im running all of the above plus a aftermarket ecu and is getting 145hp at the wheels.

how much did your efi conversion cost, did you pay some one to do it or did you do it yourself. how much HP does a stock RB30 carb push out just trying to working out the difference. Does efi make much of a difference off road. Im running 35.s with stock gearing

Im a MOD on calaisturbo.com.au, go see the guys over there, some of the guys would be willing to swap your carby setup for an EFI setup, some of the guys have speedway race cars, and they run the carbs, so drop over there and have a look, there is more info that you can dream off

Just look out for the idiots, PM me there if you have issues with someone

im running 35's on mine, the efi makes it go a lot better even before the after maket ecu , to be honest it didnt make much of a difference other then making it use more fuel :x off road efi is a million time better on steep hills, in regards to the carb flooding issues.

you wont look back if you go efi, ive got my old loom and ecu lying arournd somewhere i think if your interested

there is a little heater thingy between the carby and the manifold. Just unbolt the carby and brake it out. Does not make much differance down low but lets it rev a lot better above 4000rpm. I changed my diff ratios too this helps alot to with running the bigger tyres.
I'm planning on changing to 4.2 litre engine should be able too do it for $2000 too $3000 which i think will be easyer in the long run.
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

yep cant beat extractors,2.5 inch pipe, filter and taking that heater mesh out and advance the timing to 15 deg.mine went like an absolute champion. i reckon it reved better then my 4.5 iv got now.lol. i didnt bother with fuel injection as i alwasy ran gas, running gas also stopped in "pinging".running 33's took a fair bit of zing out of it but the car seemed like a race car when i put 31's back on it.

i would be careful putting a bigger engine in as the geaxbox isnt as strong as the bigger 4.2 boxes.

cheers

you cant get adaptors to suit bigger motors with the rb30 box, you need to get a 4.2l box. transfer cases are the same.

your mad to get rid of the RB-30 A-Ferral im planning on putting one into my SWB the TB is a slug. I Had a basic turbo setup in my LWB on 33's went grouse, especially on the open road. If anyone wants the wiring diagrams to fit the injection and turbo I drew them up PM me. I had it turbo'd and injected for under 2K,minus exhaust

I will swap you rb 30 for a tb 42 if you like Brumsy.
The clutch is just about cooked in mine i'm looking $1000 just to get it repaired. I found a good wrecker that will sell me a TB 42 gear box and all the bits I need to fit it for $2200. Cannot see the point in spending another $2000 to turbo my rb30. As there is not much else left to be done after that without spending big $. After which the hole lots still bolted to not the worlds strongest gear box.
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.
