Hi, Can anybody tell me what conditions , rules etc apply to a 2in body lift on a Disco in NSW....

i wood say that u wil have 2 get it engineered and put on ya insurance but thats bout it.

just check with the dude that does your rego and then call up ya insurance company and ask them if u can do this mod without it being engineered as i know that with NRMA i can have 2" of lift max b it either suspension or body and neither of them has 2 b engineered but it wont hurt 2 make a few calls

Hmmm I vaugely recalll that if you did just the body lift - but didn't change anything structural - ie bumper mounts etc - then it did not need to be engineered.....Mind you these days it seems you need an cert to wipe your own arse

dont 2 inch body lift twice now.

u DO NOT need to engineer a 2 inch body lift or put it on ur papers. Just do the mod and thats it, no probs.
As soon as u jump up to a 3 inch body lift, then engineers certificates are required.

It is correct that any structural changes need to be engineered, but for a 2inch body lift u shouldnt have to change anything that drastic to need one.

Sorry to tell you guys this but you do need an engineers certificate to do a body lift in NSW.
I called the tech enquiries at the RTA and they told me this. The reason is because you are changing the structure of the vehicle i.e. where and how the body mounts to the chassis.

With regard to the insurance issue, if you do a body lift (and since it requires an engineers report) and don't get it or advise the insurer, if you have a claim and they need to find a reason to decline it they will use that as the reason.

Yes i agree with NO IDEA,No matter if it is a 1" body lift or a 4" body lift,it has to be engineered.
And as for insurance companies go,if your worried about lifting ya rig and keeping it insured give DGA INSRANCE a call,they will insure your rig with any modification as long as it is road worthy in your state.
And they are cheaper i found.

"Please note vehicle is covered for full offroad and on road cover anywhere in Australia. There is no restictions to this cover"

"Please note vehicle can have any modification added to the vehicle, there are no restrictions. Accessories need to be notified"
