Post by Jimbo »

My 94 GQ seems to have some free play in the steering.

Kev at prosteer did mine when he checked my caster and balanced the tyres and it cost bugger all extra.

hell, my steering wheels 12o'clock points to about 10.30 in normal driving and i can move it to 12 b4 she turns, just give her a harder yank if ya need to swerve quick(not that ya should be swerving a whole lot in a foubie...)

undo the lock nut on thje top of your steering box and screw the inner bolt down like the other guy said half a turn try that if not do it a little more, I did mine and i think that i tightened it a little to much and it was binding a little but it freed up and is OK know

Jack up both front wheels, loosen lock nut and then screw down until slight resistance is noticed then test for tightness or binding at the steering wheel, tighten or loosen until the best compromise between steering wheel freeplay and steering tighness is found.

cheers fnq
