PLay in steering

My 94 GQ seems to have some free play in the steering.
Is there anything i can do about this?

make sure your awake while your driving and you'll have no problems!

take it mechanic and get thme ti tighten the steering box up.

only if you have a low range torque wrench according to the gergory's manual

Kev at prosteer did mine when he checked my caster and balanced the tyres and it cost bugger all extra.

hell, my steering wheels 12o'clock points to about 10.30 in normal driving and i can move it to 12 b4 she turns, just give her a harder yank if ya need to swerve quick(not that ya should be swerving a whole lot in a foubie...)

So can anyone tell me how to do it. My tires are already balanced and my castor and wheel allignement is fine.
Surely some1 on here knows how to do it.

I had similar issues when my power steering fluid was low.. could be as simple as that..

Fluid is fine and i can feel the play when the engine is off. I'm sure they can can be adjusted but not sure how.

on my old girl i just back the nut off and done the screwthing clockwise half a turn and done the nut back up ..all good now.

undo the lock nut on thje top of your steering box and screw the inner bolt down like the other guy said half a turn try that if not do it a little more, I did mine and i think that i tightened it a little to much and it was binding a little but it freed up and is OK know

Jack up both front wheels, loosen lock nut and then screw down until slight resistance is noticed then test for tightness or binding at the steering wheel, tighten or loosen until the best compromise between steering wheel freeplay and steering tighness is found.
