Im looking at putting an aftermarket temp gauge on my 89 GQ 4.2 turbo diesel, as i dont think the factory one is accurate. can anyone recomend the best place to put the temp probe? top of radiator? radiator hose? etc...
also can anyone reccomend somewhere to have it fitted in the east of melbourne? im in the ringwood area!
thanks guys!

we got a steel pipe, drilled tapped and put sender in it, then cut top radiator hose and clamped it in there, between the hoses, worked fine, used 515 locktite and a copper waster to ensure it wont leak, you will have to run an earth to it though. Thats easy

I pulled out heater hose fitting from block and used a 3 way t piece it is best way to do it as the closer to the head the better. top hose will not give you accurate reading as it is on wronging side of thermostat

Can you put it where the original one was, if not, As close to the original sender would be good. I had an alloy spacer made to house the thermostat. and tapped threads for the new temp sender and new thermo fam sensors.
