i have been toying with the idea of getting a new cruiser ute for a dd and a beach driver. when is the new cruiser range coming out? if not for a while ive been looking at the 79 series muster and am not sure whether to part with the hard earned for one of them or a 78 RV. i cant really tell the difference on specs between the two except the muster is 1k cheaper.
also are the factory diff locks worth getting or give the dollars to arb for airlockers? i assume they are vacum operated. is there a difference in there strengths?
thanks

Get factory locks, 2700 and covered by full warranty, Toyota will not cover ARB's and ARB are only a small kay warranty
Tojo's are electric to

Dan its the same with ARB`s if you run an unmodified ARB loom.
Since factory ones are elec it shouldn`t be to hard to change them so the front will come on without the rear. If they are run via a dial switch then just change to different swtiches.

Never actually seen one apart, my old boy has them on his bus (twoopy)
Just the little motor and actuator bit poke out, nothing to be concerned about

You'll be hunting far and wide to find a 78 series ute.... 79's are as common as dirt, but 78's tend to be found only with troopy bodys on them

Funny bastard.
Anyway 79 Muster was limited production and has been NLA for months and months, so you've missed the boat on that one. Current model 79 with the 4.2 is also hard stock to get now. New 79 with the 4.5 V8 is landing from end of March at dealers. Our first is due any day and is 79 series GXL in Charcoal with factory diff locks.

Any chance you could tell us what the towing capacity is, and the gross vehicle mass, or gross combination mass?
Cheers
