Frontera Tyres

Post by Bacdef »

Hi guys I am on the hunt for some better tyres for my frontera and was wondering what sizes you guys run and if I should wait untill I get a lift so as to fit bigger ones on I currently have 245/70/r16 goodyear APs and there still in good condition and are good onroad so I was wondering if I would also be better getting some 15inch rims for a set of pure offroad tyres.

Any ideas on brand would be good I was thinking goodyear MTRs but there a bit pricey

Thanks again, Bacdef

I run 31x10.5x15 BFG ATs on 15x7 ROH rims (Navara offset). These only fit with a bit of lift though.

I run 31x10.5x15 Goodyear MT/R on a 40-mm front lift on my '99. Some minor scrubbing on partial lock until about 14,000 km old. I left the front mudflaps on and did some minor mods to the inner guard. The problem is the wheel offset. The Frontera has a 38mm+ offset and ROH etc steel wheels are 10mm+ max. With the extra inch in tyre width and the extra inch in negative offset, the tyres set out about 1 1/2 inches further than standard and so rub on the guard.
Mt/Rs are pretty good off road and not too shabby on road either. The missus isn't too worried driving the streets if I get lazy and don't put the ATs on. After 14,000km they have worn 2mm and still have 13mm tread. Best of all I get an extra 30mm lift.
