Grab ya self a 'dummy block'
cut the sump away from the mounting area atleast 50mm from the sump/block mounting surface
Modify it to do the job ya after and re-weld the sucker once ya have the shape desired.

How do you thing the hot rodders fit thumping big V8's into old jolopies that originally only had 4 or 6 cylinder motors in em ???
A mate of mine just did his 360Hemi sump to fit a 36 Dodge...... he used the std Hemi sump mounting and cut n shut a International Truck ( C series ) to suit. He then modded the oil pickup pipe to suit the new sump.
He had to fit a 360 into a 36 dodge with a L300 front end and a VH commodore steering rack...
Easy as pie !!!

The sd33 sump is a fairly heavy duty thing compared to most sumps so welding it wont be that dificult.

A little info on what shape ya after may also help

as will the modification idea that ya have....
remember the sump change is simple but dont forget the oil pickup needs to be done too

thanks for the info kingy, we have modified one sump and thought it would work an it was until we gained more flex out of the front of it and then the front tailshaft started eating into it again
so now were stuck, except for maybe repairing original sump and maybe reinforcing it
