G'Day all
Just been reading up some info here on the Diahatsu Forum regarding re-routing the Wife's Feroza Air Intake. To cut a long story short, a guy in the UK where these little cars are popular, did 3 dyno runs, one with OE air intake, one with a Pod Style Filter straight off the intake mainfold and one with a Pod Filter off the end of an extended and simplified (ie straighter) air intake. Basically, the extended intake actually moved (and slightly increased) peak torque lower in the Rev Range than eliminating most of the intake (although the shortest intake actually increased Peak Torque, but high in the rev band, about 3,500RPM compared to 1,400).
Was just thinking, at the moment my GQ has it's air filter immediately on top of the Carbie/LPG Converter with a shroud over it and a very short Ari intake (about 15cm). Do you think that the Lesson learnt by the Feroza owner would hold for a GQ? What I was thinking of was getting a Shroud made just to go over the LPG Converter, making a pipe to extend to the Passenger Side of the car and converting a Cruiser Style Donaldson Type Air Box to suit (of course, making a snorkle easier in the long run)!
What, if anything, do you think this would do to the power/torque curve?
Look forward to your opinions.
