There were factory 22re's in the US for a while .. so it can and has been done ...

Saw one done a few years ago in a Bundy went well till the head cracked so a reco head went on and it cracked too so 22R came out and 4.2 Holden V8 went in then the Bundy fell over.
Young blokes ,I dunno'.
