Hi

I got a second hand front diff assmebly (disk-disk) of a guy on the weekend to fit my '88 highline. Now that i have gone to fit it the control arms are to wide for it.

Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it or do i have the wrong diff?

Cheers

I assume you mean the radius arms/bushes are too wide for the mounts? You need to swap to the narrow (early?) radius arms then.

Beno,

If you happen to be in Sydney I have a set you can have.

Take them away.

i had this problem when i converted to my 72 with a 96 24 spliner i just made some spacers to make my narrow bushes fit that houseing problem solved. you may also have trouble with panhard rod bolts and bushes too. the later ones use a bigger bolt i found out

I was wondering the other day if a series 2 disco back end is the same as the p38 ?

No... the diff centre is on opposite sides (D2 offset to drivers side, P38 just passengers side of centre of housing, runs past the fuel tank which is on drivers side), the trailing arms attach to the diff housing differently, the 'spring seats' are different, I THINK the shock mounting location and watts linkage are different, the swaybar brackets are different....

Does the P38 have a DS front diff still or is that on the PS like the rear?

Erm... Believe its on the drivers side still, but thats off the top of my head - can't actually picture it at the moment...
