Circular Roll Cage Design

Post by nicbeer »

Interesting one.

Found this whilst trolling the web.

Its in WA as a track car and one of the fastest cars around the raceway.

Roll cage looks interesting but would it work the same as a normal one?

Circles are the strongest shape for resisting being crushed or bent out of shape.

Can't think of the word.

The old castles used to be square until you could dig under a corner and the square tower will topple over, they swapped to circle towers no corner to dig under so won't topple over as easy.

To help you understand at what I'm getting at.

IF you have a pipe bender and a welder you too can have a one of a kind circle rollcage as well :)

Looks like triangle with pipe leading to top of half circle, brace the middle part with plate and brace the centre with some pipe and should be good to go.

Experience is something you don't get, until just after you need it.
