checking out a 1977 shorty bj40

Have just been checking out an old 1977 bj40 shorty, it looks nice and complete...
but, what do you really have to look for in these cars? how can you tell in what condition the engine and fuel system is, etc?
btw, what are the most common mods suspension/engine? we would like to build up some sort of rock toy, we would have 35" tyres for it.

SPOA you and your brother can do than easy, there is plenty of tech in the toyo bibles on how to, gearing would be good, I would go 37s and depending on the engine it will prolly be worth re powering it

yeah a V8 and coil conversion and gearing.
lookout for bulk rust.
i reckon you are better off starting with a dunger if your going to make it into a toy for rock crawling.

a $300 one.
if you are going to replace and chop up alot then why buy a nice one? save your $$$
