G'day,

Just finished repairing my leaking drivers hub, took the selector face plate off, put the new gasket on topped up diff oil. and now i get very heavy rough feedback in my steering when

going 40 onwards with hubs locked 2wd
in between 60 and 70 bubs unlocked 2wd

from what i can tell everything is on ok.

Can anyone help?
Anything else you need to know please ask.

Cheers,
Sean

It sounds like maybe you have incorrectly reassembled the hub and it is locked constantly. Jack up both front wheels and check one at a time with car in gear so front shaft doesn't turn.

+1, Locking hubs can be a bastard sometimes. Did it come apart when you removed it. Oh, and if there is diff oil in your hubs that is leaking out of the locking hub flange, you have issues further inside than the locking hub gasket. That gasket is there to stop grease from the bearings/hubs getting out, and crap getting in. It there is diff oil in your hub/bearings, check your inner axle seal, and also that your kingpin bearings are not shit, causeing your swivel hub to move and put pressure on the inner axle seal. If there is diff oil in the hub it will also re-pack your CV and wheel bearings, as without grease they will wear and fail. The diff oil will wash the grease out, and the oil itself will not correctly lubricate the bearings/CV.
