GU V's GQ Petrol Alt Plugs (Connections)

Post by Sandy Rut »

Does anyone know if alt plugs are the same between Petrol GQs and GUs?

I wanna replace my 88GQ Alt with a higher output GU jobbie, and want to know if need to chase down a plug too...

alternators

Post by mgundle »

yes they are the same is yours petrol or diesel?
an bosch bxu1234 is a great alternative as the fit straght on just need to modify plug wiring but they are cheap to rebuild further down the track.
if its a diesel a kia pregio alternator is a direct fit they are 90 amp and internally fanned so they keep cool
also cheap to rebuild when the time comes
both should cost you aroun 300-350 from a auto electrician

Look at page 5 of this.

Cooldrive are in boxhill melbourne and have a 110 amp unit for $220.

They also have cheap alternators for TD42 diesels

fitted a 100 amp alt off a diesel GU onto a GQ petrol - plugs are on the wrong side but wires reached and plugged straight in. Changed pulley from single to double and job was done

Any idea on the output of these?

And yeah I actually found Cool Drive via google but seing as that price was a "monthly special" 12 mths ago I gathered the price would have gone up - I also assume that $220 is the trade price too

Anyway thanks heaps for input everyone
