Aust. 4wd Monthly CLIFFHANGER 9-13th July, 2007

Post by NavRun »

THERE was movement at Cootawundi Station, for the word had passed around
That the ute from old Greenie had won his way,
And had joined the wild bush ute of Scanlon — they were worth a thousand pound,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray.
All the tried and noted drivers from the stations near and far
Had blasted down the river bed overnight,
For the bushmen love hard driving where the wild stages are,
And the challenge class rig snuffs the battle with delight.
That's how Banjo Patterson would see the Cliffhanger ....

There's no doubt the Cliffhanger has become an exhilarating event set in some of the most amazing terrain. Driving the rocks is like driving on Uluru, the creek runs stretch for 50+ k's, the back paddock is 3 horizons big and thar's mud in them thar Billabongs.

Location - Cootawundi Station - Wilcania Rd (10 mins south of) White Cliffs, NSW.

When - Competition starts 9 am Monday 9th July and concludes 9pm Friday 13th July with a Bon Fire presentation.

Facilities for competitors, spectators and marshalls alike... -
1 base camp - all stages are close by
toilets and showers
on site bar
catered meals (even lunches)
on site fuel by pre-arrangement
Flights to/from Cliffhanger and scenic flights
4 point roll bars as a minimum, otherwise Challenge Class specs including harnesses, helmets and window nets.

It's like a winch challenge with outback stages. Typically every day will have winching, navigation, speed and technical stages. The nights will be fast and furious and conclude with a bon fire camp setting while others rebuild rigs through the night. There's no limit to the support you can receive so BYO mates, their tools and their spares.

Activities for spectators including some event stages and navigation.

Little Mule racing will be there.

After experiencing this event last year i can not emphsise enough how fantastic the layout of this event is. It is truly spectator and family friendly aswell as being a full on hard core event. If you miss then you has really missed out. This is a 'must do' event. I'm looking forward to it, and especially can't wait to see the mud in them there billabongs...

Doodle boy the poem rocked  ;)

Cheers Dan
