XR6 Turbo motor to GQ

Post by sad001 »

I Know this has come up before but I was prompted to ask again when my mate flew past me with his chipped BA turbo. Is anyone doing this conversion yet. I what more power and less fuel use, like we all do and am weighing up all options including a new petrol Prado (god forbid) currently running duel fuel EFI 4.2 with 334,000ks and its gutless and thirsty...all suggestions welcome, as I'd rather spend a bit of money on the old girl than a shit load of money on a new car, cos it's pretty well fitted out.

umm nizpro is in melbourne and there kits move the power\torque range higher in the rpm.

i would leave it stock. like 260kw is not enough already.

try and do it with fords auto trans to.

would make for one sick gq.

Ummm, 240kw at the flywheel........330kw at the wheels

cloughy the kit moves the power high up in the rev range, power delivery from std is quite usable but once flashed u gotta ring their neck to get em where they like to be, and imo not very useful offroad, imagine a greasy clay hill where you need ur eng at around 3g just to get some good power when in the mean time all your doing is spinnin the bags due to loss of traction

I find that very hard to beleave, when nizpro made the 1000hp xr6t it had more torque at 2000rpm than the std xr6t made at any rev range and at 3000rpm it made close to 1000nm.
You'd have to stuff the tune up big time to loose all its low end torque,I wouldnt think soft ware upgrade would do that.

australias fastest xr6t. not a typhoon but a xr6t. all they did was add a apus kit or somthin g like that on it and it beat lamboghinis and all the fast exotic cars. the falcon was the fastest at 307kmp/h

Falcon 6 into GQ

Post by BI6MAV »

Dellow does a conversion for the EB-EL 4L six into the GQ an SnortPerformance does a sick turbo kit for that same engine.
You should be able to put all that together with a microtech and have a reliable 350-400rwhp for about $8000.00 I should imagine.

I have a BF XR6T, I tune, I bought it to get to know the software better as I tune them. Tune only, 245 rw kW on a Dyno dynamics dyno in shoot 8 or 228 rw kW on my DTS dyno with a 6 speed auto. BA's have crap valve springs and BA BF have crap rods up to May 06 where they were fitted with typhoon rods. Thats about all you can make std. as injectors and pump are maxed out. Ive tuned Nizpro kits and there is no loss of bottom end. In fact when you tune these you bring the boost on earlier as its contrlled through the ECU and it makes them heaps better down low, Ford program them to drive like a naturally aspirated car with boost that goes up very linear against RPM. 300 rw kW is very achievable with injectors, intercooler, fuel pump, actuator, and valve springs if you have a BA.
