radio interference from fridge

I've just borrowed a 40L engel fridge from a friend to get me through a road trip I'm about to embark on. Problem is, it creates a very loud hum through the stereo when the compressor is running.

Both the stereo and fridge are running off the second battery and wiring and earth are all good.

Any suggestions so I can enjoy music on the road and a cold beer when I get to the end of the day?

Not sure if it helps but my older style engel has a knob at the back for earthing the radio interference.

A clamp-on ferrite on the Engel power lead may help suppress any noise coming down the power line. If you can find a friendly supplier, they should let you try it on the fridge before you fork out the money.

This could be useful for others with stereo problems...

Turns out, an isolating transformer I had installed to remove the ground loop between the head unit and the amp was sitting right next to an 8ga power lead. Until now, no problem although I did have a really faint alternator whine but not really noticable. Plugged in the fridge and the hum was unbearable.

Turns out, moving the isolating transformer 20cm away from the +12V line fixed everything!!!!
