FLAMIN Fabrications -Twin Winch Mtr Adapter & Free Spool
There's not much to see, but this is the adapter that I make to join the 2 motors together.
Anyone seriously interested, call me.

Yes it wil keep goingl, but it would be advisable to disconnect it electrically.kirragc wrote:Hey Wazza
Just a question what happens if one of the motors burns out?
Does the second motor keep going?
Doesn't render your winch useless.

Havn't got exact line speed details or tonnage, they will break a 20 tonne rope. They've been on winning trucks in the last couple of years without problems.GQ Bear wrote:how about some performance test results

I no this has all been proven but isent this setup putting twice as mutch stress on the gearbox and brake shaft? but half the stress on the motors.The_Wazza wrote:Havn't got exact line speed details or tonnage, they will break a 20 tonne rope. Yes, that would be true, but you still have to look after the winch when you operate it. Shockloading it will damage the winch, but this is the case with any winch.
You also have the option to upgrade the gearbox and shafts, ("but", this hasnt been necessary as yet on the the winches I've done so far. Birdyy, Shrek & GQHoon).
My modification for the twin winch motors is solely a power upgrade first and foremost.

I'm assuming they are for the 6hp Warn motor. Will fit the 7.8hp 24v Superduty motor? I already have them so wonder if it would enable me to join 2 of them?
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)
If your motor bolts up to the standard warn highmount top hat, with NO modifications, YES , my adapter will suit "OR" if it doesn't, I will custom build an adapter for you. That would be nutsnzdarin wrote:I'm assuming they are for the 6hp Warn motor. Will fit the 7.8hp 24v Superduty motor? I already have them so wonder if it would enable me to join 2 of them?

During some of Australia's toughest winch challenges, we found that we needed to get a bigger edge over our oppositions. Twin Motors provided us with faster winching under load, overall greater winching speed in the worst conditions.frp88 wrote:why did you join the two together

It's very simple, they are joined by the adapter that I make and both motors turn in the same direction.frp88 wrote:I know why you are using two motor's, are they joined by one shaft or does one run forward and the other backward with two gearboxes at either end?
I've made it as simple as possible, so there are less parts to break or maintain.

I make a bracket that supports the 2nd motor, which bolts to the endplate of winch.chpd 80 wrote:What have you done about the weight of the second

Does the wiring piggyback onto the first motor?
and could you pm. a price to me . Thanks mate
The wiring is all wired separately.

Why doesn't anyone in competion run Hydraulic motors as opposed to electric?
I dont mean the off the shelf winches from power steering, I can see that being slow, but surely there is an in between.
I believe the TJM Ox is plenty fast when driven from a PTO Hydraulic pump - aka Mal Storey.

I was looking at a hydrostatic set up to keep the rservoir to a minimum.
Using a pressure compensated load sensed pump and maybe bent axis piston motor into a planetary set up would be interesting but you could buy 3 of wazzas complete winches for the same price.
Would be nice to stick it to the big boys though
innovation is better, better is faster, and fast is all that counts
If you want to see how to setup a hydraulic winch then look at what "Shermin" is running in the NZ winch challenge series. 290 ft per min and supposed to pull about 16000 lbs. All I know is it looks like they are driving even when the mud is up to the headlights.
The problem is cost and weight. They are the ultimate in winch but you have a big cost in setting up and a lot of maintenance. As an idea a Superwinch or Come-up (aka Premier) winch cost about the same as an 8274 and then you need a pump, valves, hoses, tank and then you still need an electric as it won't work when you roll the truck. I would think a well setup hydraulic would cost about twice that of an 8274 with Wazzas upgrades!
But compared to replacing 6hp Warn motors everyday they would be cheap!

6hp motors are selling for about $480...frp88 wrote:how much is a 6hp motor for a high mount cos if you use 2 you would save if the 7.8hp cost is alot more.I have no idear on the cost for stock high mount I gess $2500.
