too many choices to confuse me!

i'd suggest any 240amp machine would do, depends on your price range. the average home joe will not be able to tell the difference in quality of the different brands. remember what ever welder you buy to have a good power source, and do a welding course or atleast read a book about how to weld.
forget about gasless wire, its crap, if you have never welded before you will tear your hair out trying to get a good looking weld.
best welder i've used is the current one i have at work, a transmig 500sp, by cigweld, the company i work for is phasing out the wia's for transmigs.

unimig 240. well priced. well made. easy to use.
Run em on gas and you will fall in love with silky smooth welds and no splatter though i do still enjoy playing with my stick (welder).
There are better quality machines on the market and their pricing reflects that but ive seen a few unimigs in well known workshops as well.
Have a search as there is heaps on this topic also.
