80 series roll cage into 60 series

Post by bj on roids »

I have 2 full roll cages (CAMS) approved from GXL 80 series' one is steel and one is alloy.

I was wondering if I could fit these into the body shell of a 60 series?

anybody know?

I know this is not your answer but I did'nt think CAMS approved aluminium roll cage's any more. Mate of mine has build a few HQ racers and they will not allow any aluminum cage's unless they were approved prior to that ruling.

No you can't, unless they were a real bad fit in an 80 series.

The roof profile of teh 60 and the 80 are totally different along with the floor profile.

I am not saying you couldn't make it fit but it will not bolt in.

As for CAMS approval, a cage can't have it. The cage can be manufactured to cams specs but cams approval requires it to be installed correctly and a log book entry made.

If the cage is not installed in a vehicle it could have a compliance cert but to have approval it would need to be fitted and inspected.
