Has anyone seen, used, broken, or heard anything, about the bush winch?

Bush Winch Kit (Nut Size: 35mm) (Rope Type: normal) (Rope Length: 20m) (4WD/2WD: 4WD) $780
wtf! thats a bit exxy.

i dare say it wouldnt spool to well if it is pulling off to the side. if your wheels are in ruts how do you install them then?
watch the vid on the page. it shows about halfway through the rope falling off i think.

but each to their own :D

$780 for two wheel welded together and a bit of winch rope.

That's theft.

may be it's just me... but it looks like you could fabricate this out of a mini wheel 3 long studs and a length of wire rope for about $100

my concern is that for $700 ish.. -/+ wouldnt you buy a winch, you would need a certain reason for such a use. maybe weight factor but time wise it would be annoying. its not like you can leave it on. well you could but youd gain a foot in width for worst

so for this to work you would need an anchor point almost dead inline with your wheel, and stay inline with it, and you would also need lockers, else the opposite wheel will freespin and the wheel with the 'winch' will sit there and look at ya funny....

buy a hi-mount and use that if ya so worried about weight, at least ya can choose what direction to pull... and it has other uses...

agreed!

chosing your line from the back of the vehicle would be very interesting. if you add the expense of the lockers you could have a very nice tricked up warn. im sure there is a purpose for the bushman but i cant say it would work for me. :D

ok so just looked at the demo, so having one on each side would negate the need for lockers... but really... buy a real winch people!!! buy a block and tackle and pull yaself out by hand! harder work but ya wont look like some Ti wanker!

handwinch and a pulley would be incredibly cheaper, and actually work on something other than flat ground :D

OMG all of a sudden it's 1942

Man, this has been tried soo many times- Even US army Hummers are equipped with lugs on the hubs to use this sort of system in an emergency.

Yes, it will work. Is it scary/dumb/likely to go horribly wrong? yes.

If I can get to my lug nuts I don't need to winch.

$780? I guess he has to pay for the bling website somehow. XF falcon wheels must be getting expensive too

I wonder what happens when a cable lets go and does $8K damage to a 100series? how good is his insurance?

Steve.

why would anyone waste their hard earned on something as dodgy as this, the video just says it all to me, if you can't drive up that hill without a winch go home and bake a cake.

so lets see you have to bolt another thing onto the wheel which is generally stuck in mud or water because you are bogged. Also if you are trying to winch up and out of an obstacle the rope would rub on thhe ground alot more easily than from a front mount winch. Also what happens if you have no drive to the wheels. Also can't see them working to well if you are stuck in a rutted track where you wouldn't be able to access the wheel to attach it to.
