Higher Compression for HD engines

Post by MightyMouse »

Not that this is an easy upgrade but FYI....

The 1.3 ltr Applause engine ( HC ) comes with higher compression
pistons than the HD. They are a drop in replacement - in fact the
pistons and rods go straight in.

Instead of the HD flat tops they are domed with valve cutouts.

So if you have yours in pieces and need bits then don't overlook the
HC engine. Will also result in a power gain - but how much remains to be seen.

I'd be interested to see the tourque curve. Could be good.

Any other pieces that can be used? What about the cam? Any advantages in the cam?

That would be a game move IMHO given the Feroza engine's propensity to detonate with standard internals.

needs must when......

Camshaft changes will be an issue - the Feroza's very mild, with any
of the road based HC & HD's being more "aggressive".

If your not geared then it might be something to consider, but lots of
people have used Appluase engines without problems ( probably didn't
even realise ).

As for detonation, what can I say - but since I worked over the cooling
system that seems to have been controlled. Though strange things happen once you start getting extra combustion chamber squish -
characteristics can change. Colder plugs, timing and octane will
be important.
