LJ80 free wheeling hubs.

Post by BundyRumandCoke »

Can this be done? I know the front hubs and drums are one piece on an LJ80. Can the front end be converted to free wheeling hubs, and also disk brakes (maybe from a Sierra)
And the next Q, is such a conversion legal in Qld?
Number 2 daughter is looking for her first car. A stockman is available, but I hate the idea of front end running all the time, hence the Q.

Cheers

I know I have been accused of a rant from time to time, but I'm not sure that a stockman is a good first car.

I love LJ's but personally, I would be happier with my kid in something a bit safer taking into account the likelihood of an inexperienced driver being involved in an accident.

Is it neccessary for her to have a 4WD? If not, a car would make a lot safer alternative (plus, it will will be more forgiving if she overcooks it a bit and gets out of shape) to get an older 4 cyl hatch and the running costs would be the same or lower.

Just my 2C
