Should I retension the head first?

Post by HOTLEAD »

I plan to check/adjust the tappets on my 89GQ SWB over the coming long weekend and was wondering whether I should retension the head studs before I do the tappets. The engine is a GEM reconditioned unit that has done about 40,000ks since install 2 years ago.

Appreciate any sensible advice.

your more likely to do more damage by disturbing the gasket, it would be seated in well so id leave it, if theres no watery oil, bubbles in ur radiator or compression loss leave it.
