How much fuel you got and how far have you gone on one tank?

Post by Strange Rover »

Saw the fuel tank question and though this might be fun--

So post up how much fuel your rig can hold and also the furthest you have gone between fill ups.

Ill start -

My County (3.9L Isuzu diesel) holds about 125L and the most I have driven between fillups is just over 1000km

Buisness partners 1989 Rangie with a turboed 3.9L Isuzu holds about 180L and he regurally gets around 1600km before filling up. Ill check with him tomorrow for exact figgures.

Disco 3.9L V8 - 85L (I think) and the best Ive gone is about 550 km

Jeez, Michaels going great in his RR. All that grunt and fuel economy as well ! Why the hell am I running a diesel ??

In the 130 the main tank is supposed to be 79l and I drove from here to my Dads place in Brissy, 695km, sitting on 110-120km/h indicated, (the speedo's nearly 8% out, but the odo is pretty close) and put 75l into it.
The auxilary is supposedly 70l, but I've never got that much in her thanks to the daft filler neck. (s'pose I should bend up a new one)

With both tanks I usually get at least 1150km before I refill, sometimes I can stretch it to 1300km, but I'm nearly always running it at maximum boost.

BTW, saw 145km/h indicated (and still accelerating) going down Bolivia Hill passing a tour coach. ;) (if you have a Tdi you'd understand )

Hmmm 88-89 3.5 EFI got about 350-380K to the 80Litres around town

After extractors and free flowin exhaust get about 420 around town and 500 if all highway 130K+

My aim would to some day be able to get 600K out of the same size tank.............

I always get much better fuel economy around town (when I visit)
(close to 10l/100km)
I am a bit right foot heavy on the open road.
(Defender = aerodynamics of a brick, Tdi = no grunt, Driver used to race, fuel economy = )
And we've all seen the fuel gauge plummet off road/low range.

It amazes me some of the milage figures some blokes quote for their Tdi's and Td5's. I really think they must drive everywhere at no more than 80km/h.

Disco 200 Tdi, carries ~ 185L underneath. Can only fully fill from a gravity feed tank, too much foaming otherwise.

Great distance between fills - 1300 km on the Canning stock route, used about 170 L (similar terrain to simpson desert)

Best economy - 12.4 km/l :finger: going across the nullabor. Car weighed in at 3.2 Tonnes, with fuel, water etc (but we were draughting - 4 cars bumper to bumper)

Normal on a trip 10 km/L at the speed limit

3.9L ISUZU 110 county - best so far is about 825km on an 80l tank.

2.25l Diesel IIA - 120l (2 tanks) - about 1100km and still had fuel left.

The best I got out of Aquarangie was 400kms, but I drive like a leadfoot anyway.

I have owned 3 Rangies, but the worst was my old 84 with the Chrysler auto- Got 350kms at the best, most times I would only get 280kms to a tank :bad-words: !!!!!!!!!!

1997 Hilux, 3.0L diesel. around 65 litre tank 600 kilometres on the highway. That has a load on, and I was thrashing it (3000rpm+) But around town it gets 450-500 pretty regularly. I do not think the economy is that good. But it does have 200,000 on the motor.

'85 110 County with a retrofitted Isuzu 4BE1 3.6l diesel and LT-95 1:1 hi ratio transfer case gearset. Consistently getting 10L/100K on a mix of city/highway driving. Have 55L sill aux tank and get just over 1000K before the low fuel light starts to come on. Estimate total range around 1020K between fills.

Fuel economy drops to ~13L/100K if I tow my camper trailer.

You know you live in small country when you have never bothered to work this out and you don't really care :finger:

Wouldn't dare drive it around town couldn't afford it.

On long trips [4 hours!] out of tune with 34" tyres and a 4speed P76 - fuel economy = $hit [lets put it this way don't use the word economy]

V6 Freelander ... 59litre tank, light usually comes on after about 420kms around town, and about 500 on the highway.

14l/100 is the avg usually.

I guess this is also my intro to the forum as its my first post :D

Hello, here is new "face" from Finland.

My -90 RRC takes about 15litr/100km during summerseason, 18litr/100km during winter.

OffRoad... who knows?

Vehicle is powered with 3,9 Efi.

Tank holds 76 litres??? Usually I can drive round 400km between refuelling. But never fill over 70 litres?? Fuel cauge shows so bad readings at that point...
