Converting a MQ Sd33 24 volt

wondering if I put my other motor in it which is a SD33 Turbo and just change the Alternator and Starter motor, because they are 24 v so I can keep all the wiring and dash in.
question is will a 24volt Alt or Stater motor fit on a SD33T motor

in a word, yes.

and even if it didnt, a mount plate would take all of 20 mins to whip up, max

What about the glow plugs and fuel shutoff solenoid? Will they need changing?

might un the fuel shut off through a relay i will speak to an auto elec

I helped a mate do a conversion to a 24v Turbo diesel in his MQ and we ended up changing the wiring loom to suit and everything else in his car. But we already had the wiring loom to do it so was pretty easy.

get a 24-12v converter to run the glowplugs etc if ya want, much easier to do

Glow plugs draw a lot of current, more than most 24-12v converters can handle I'd imagine.
Why not just swap the ones out of your old engine, they'd be 24v.

I would have thought you could just swap the glow plugs.

Another option might be to just rewire them so that they are in pairs, in series.

I have to admit that even though it is a pretty big effort, I'd be very tempted to do a complete 12V conversion.

What's involved in a complete conversion?
Besides engine related components what else is there? Lights, interior lights, dash lights, glow plug controller, injection pump controller, blinker/hazard cans, windscreen wiper motor, heater fan, change fuse values to appropriate 12v ones...

Never looked at an MQ/K specifically, but some 24V vehicles use lighter wiring throughout, since you have half the current (for the same power) with double the voltage. But really you want to run a new loom and some relays for your headlights (for example) anyway... starter motor you have to deal with, but the vast majority of the other stuff draws stuff all power anyhow.

It would definitely be a fair bit of work though, and you'd be bound to forget at least one thing in the process :)
