Hey All,
Ive been toying with the idea of upgrading my mightly Subie to something with a few more cylinders and a few more inches of ground clearance, at the moment ive been looking at Rangies, or maybe a GQ
Upon having a look in the trader I found happened on this....
RANGE ROVER 1982, 4 door, 5.7L chev two gas tanks, Sunraysia wheels, tyres 70% plus set standard rims and tyres, bullbar, rear bar and wheel carrier 2-1/2in lifted h/duty springs -$4200
And was just wondering if someone would have a idea on what something like that would cost to drive? I do about 70 -80k a day to work and back and would like say 12 -15l / 100km, am I wishing ?
Thanks for your help.

Newbie Help - Fuel Econ - Modded Rangie
Moderator: Micka
I don't like rovers with different engines in them ... call me a pureist
in that regard but I would say the truth of that equation would be more like over 20l /100k, unless it is direct injection gas setup.
If it is standard air intake gas then it will be anywhere from 20 - 25 L/100K around town.
Make sure the engine has a blue plate for all the mods as that can turn ugly ring transport and check the details (if you can that is!)

I'm lookin for rangies too mate in QLD (now thinkin GQ though) and can tell you that one has everything engineered for Victoria. It was used to tow a trailer up from there.
It is LPG ONLY so don't take it to fraser island etc That's why I'm stayin away. A chev is a heavy motor for a rangie too
The fuel economy would be on par I reckon with a std rangie, but cheaper fuel. It has no rego either

I seen that one for sale in the Brissie trading post. Not a bad buy, but like Tom has mentioned, check all the comp plates before you decide to get serious.
Like Tom, I'm not overly partial to non-Rover engines, too many problems you could be in for. Stick with the stock gear and modify it yourself if you choose later on.
Fuel economy. What's that? LPG is good here and will save you a packet straight up.
Good luck,
Trav
