Project Landrover SIIA Ute

Just started the restoration of a SIIA Ute.
Full details of the vehicle / restoration here:
This one will be pretty much back to stock, with a few mods to make life easy and a set of spare tyres (either pedes or swampers) for weekend runs.

Correct, i have taken over the project ... it was my idea anyways...

Great project.
I can recommend galvanising a few of the steel bits - to save you having to worry about them later.
On my IIA I galvanised the firewall and door bottoms (among other things). On my dads - we also galvanised the chassis, rad support, and just about every other steel bit even down to the pedals and pedal boxes!!!

Floor out - removed passenger seat.

Steve, there is a 2.6L S2A at Pick Pay and Go on Heatherdale Rd in Melb with a good firewall--would need modding as 6cyl has deeper center section than 4cyl or just leave as it....

Managed to get the roof off by unbolting the back wall and undoing the wndscreen butterfly nuts. The Roof is now off
The floor is now completely out, havng to unbolt the clutch and brake pedals. Unfortunately the brake line won’t unbolt frmo the master cylinder
I have undone the bolts mounting the back wall to the chassis, 3 stubborn bolts hold it in place.
More unbolting of the radiator surround has it about 80% out

this is coming along nicely, makes me want one. my first fourby was a 2A hardtop wagon, it went everywhere the new stuff goes, just not as comfy.

More Sanding today on the doors and the firewall. The door skin on the drivers side was particularly bad having a strip of fibre glass in the bottom section to badly cover a rotten door skin. It might be easier to replace the ddoor skin here. The Firewall was wire brushed to expose some rust sections. Looks like a replacement panel will need to be ordered for here and mig welded in place.I spent a good hour wirebrushing the chassis and other components to get rid of the dust dirt and grime ready for the chassis blacck paint to go on. A new tool joined the shed from Super Cheap Auto, taking advantage of their 20% off sale. I picked up a Die grinder which will be of great assistance when i start the welding of the panels etc.
the roof has about 5mm of filler over it , its taking its time to be stripped back so I can attempt to get the roof repaired.
