did the same write up on wire figured i'd share.
Ok here it is poor grammer, spelling and yes a dana 20 behind the Km148 in my 89 v6 2dr :kewl:
I got the jeep to bronco adapter from High impact http://www.high-impact.net its made by Advanced adapter its got a clocking ring and comes with the 23 input spud shaft bearing and seal but doesn't come with a main input gear i didn't have one I had to get it from a buddy of mine with a bronco this gear goes on the spud shaft.
The instructions suck the little picture that points to where the parts go on the spud shaft is the only good thing about it and no where in the instructions does it say your gonna need to press the bearing on the the spud shaft and then into the adapter housing along with the seal. I took care of pressing that stuff together at my buddys machine shop with a hydro press they had pretty easy.
This isn't my kit but i looks the same
then it was over to the montero with the adapter to make sure it was gonna work before i bolted it on the t\case and tried to bolt it on.
Here it is bolted up to the km148
Also after toying around with different bolt positions(many hours) there is only one that will work so all 6 bolt holes will line up right.
Dana 20 with adapter hanging on tranny.
at the best clocking position the t\case sites up in the frame higher that stock case did BUT the drain comes very close to the t\bar I took this picture before i realized i didn't have the adapter clocked right but even now it comes close BUT my tranny mount is smashed and coming apart so after i replace it i'll have more room so i think it will be friends with the t\bar if not i may put a thin spacer under the tranny mount to bring it up or grind a bit off that drain its pretty thick so i don't think it will hurt any.
I did beat back some sheet metal I don't think it needs to be done I did it cause i was hoping to get this clocked a bit higher but i'm on the last clocking position on the ring
BUT I have a 2" Body lift and from the looks of things if i didn't there would be some body cutting.
this picture didn't come out well this is before i bashed there is room there I couldn't get the camera at the right angle to show it so it looks like the body is sitting on the t\case but its not.
Ok as far as the shifter linkage goes my pal the drain plug is once again in the way so it needs to be bent and as far as piviot mount that bolted on the stock t\case i had made a bracket that bolted to the dana case then came over and then bolted onto linkage piviot mount.I did cut off one of the bolt holes as it was bumping into the case and I didn't think it needed 2 mounting points as long has the bracket was sturdy.
I'm gonna toss the stock shifter and linkage and go with a cable shifter i got out of a 93 eclipse yesterday i'll let you guys know how it goes i'll be installing that on monday reason i'm going with this is cause i didn't like how the linkage hung down it was still proctected by the t\case skid but i think it would be cool to just have a straight skid plate not one that hangs down. I'll see how this new shifter works for me.
As far as shifting the t\case I'm looking at 2 options
First option is I get a cable shifter like what nathanc did and mount it in the stock spot in the floor
Second option Is I cut a new hole in the floor and make a shifter to go right into the t\cases shifter rail, then cover the old t\case floor hole with a little cup holder consel :kewl:
I'm really starting to dig the second option I'm sure most of you would go for the first but i kinda like cutting stuff.
Also my front and rear driveshafts will also be longer Now as i have no slipyokes at either end. and this case is shorter than the stock case and the np231 even with the adapter. :kewl:
Here is another pic without the adapter ring on
