Winch Challenge Magic numbers !!!
Trying to settle a pub discussion
What would everyone say would make the best winch challenge truck
Wheelbase
Tyre size
skidpan clearence
power to weight ratio
overal height
Things like aproach and departure angles goes with saying as does the winch ( modded high mount)
Tyre choice seems pretty set on simex
I know it is not an exact set of numbers but the guys who compete all the time must have a good idea of what works and doesnt love to hear their thoughts

Here would be it the ultimate winch challenge car as i see it:
Wheelbase 100"-104" maybe heaps longer if there is no sharp corners, particularly if you can get a transfer case that allows front digs.
Tyre size, I would run a 33" radial tyre (wheel speed, gearing, LOW CoG etc.)
Skidpan clearance: throw one under your box and case!
Power to weight: A lgiht ute, with a cut down alloy tray, and an alloy V8, with auto.
Overall height 2-3" above stock at most, built to grind.
Winch: High mount, modified.
hands and mums dont count!!!

you forgot to say the auto was alloy
Tidyness as in team work. Driver has to be good at getting around course without getting penalties and the winch runner has to be super tidy with his job. This is the first and for most for scoring high pionts
Balls to stay on the loud pedal longer than the next.
Motor HP, you have to have a quick rig
Tuff rig, has to be built to with stand the abuse, you don`t need suspension travel to do well. (T Leens GQ doesn`t have much travel)
Fast winch

Factory prepped Blown simonite , on 35 " tire with a 18" dia rim or somthing round there, a tall side wall would suk trying to go hard, As you guys said you need a gym junkie that can nav !
Looks like hard work to me !
Tire choice would be hard, Sand ,slop, rock , gravel,
Go to agressive would handle loose as on the speedy sections , and too
mild a tire you'll be winchin for ever in the slop.
Im to old for that one .
