Whats the best way to attach sliders?
I am just about to make some for my GQ but i dont have a bodylift, so the U shaped clamping way isnt going to work.
Dont mind the idea of welding to the chassie rail, but i can understand there could be pressure placed on the chassie rail and last thing i need is for it to rip off with some rail intact.
What about bolting through the chassie rail to some steel plate on the other side similar to sandwiching it in?

Fishplating. Cut up some sheet steel in this shape: <=> and weld to the chassis. Then weld your sliders to this.
If you use decent thickness sheet you should adequately reinforce your chassis so that it wont rip the chassis if you land heavily on your sliders. Ive mounted quite a few sets of sliders this way and have yet to have any problems.
Incidentally, Ive made a few sets that are bolt-on too. To my knowledge, none of the people Ive made them for have ever taken them off. Just weld them on and be done with it.

what about through the chassie like this. Havnt looked but dont think theres too much room to go over the top of the rail.

i thought it was illegal to weld to the chasis? plus, wont the heat weaken it at that point?

It'll either seriously damage the chassis or rip a bolt thru it if it doesnt have crush tubes in it.
Fishplating would have been ideal as well to strengthen that area.

Mine go over the rail with no body lift. The only way id ever do it is with u bolts.

fishplates thare are tapped for bolts (larger area and thicker fishplate) which isnt the best for the chassis as 8mm steel on 4mm chassis isnt the best idea ever but its better than no crush tubes going through the chassis or just fishplate and weld them on.

bolts would be the way to go. but not bolting through the chassis.
i would weld to a chassis before i drill through one.
just let it cool down slowly, not putting water on it
