HELP, vibration/chattering noise after lift?

After fitting 5inch tough dog lift kit to an 80 series I now have bad vibration/chattering
sounds.
Uni`s are ok, removed front shaft and problem 90% fixed.
Spaced down g/box tranfer case 10mm, still no differance.

Will lenghtening top rear arms help?

And what do I do with the front shaft? Does a double cardon joint fix it, although tough dog said no need for one, just fit new uni`s???
I was also told a double cardon will reduce articulation, is this correct?

It did drive fine before lifting it.
Any advice appreciated. Cheers.

I remember reading (either here or 4WD Monthly forum) that on a lift as high as your that a double cardon on the front tailshaft is needed. But I`d wait to see what others have to say first.

Really sounds like what you`ll need as you say.Problem fixed when you took out front shaft.

if it a full time 4wd I understan either the double carden or the part time kit is the fix for the road, although if you do lots of trips where you will be in 4wd high doing high speeds the double card in the best option

No centre diff lock wasnt in, but i did try it, noise and vibrations still there.

I`ve been to 2 driveshaft places and neither could help me tha much,
they said it would be trial and error.
4wd places dont want to no about it either as i guess i never paid them $800 installation, with doing the work myself.

I do realise the part time kit will cure my on road problem but couldnt take offroad the way it is.

i done the same lift to an 80 a while ago, same problems.

you need to lower the box, or it will flog out the transfer/centre diff.

There has to be some toyota guru out there that can help me???

I have spaced g/box-transfer crossmember down 10mm, didnt want to go
to much as I will then put load/ stress on engine mounts.

If I remember right, I have read where someone cut 10mm out of tor/rear
arms but this contridics what driveline companys are telling me.
They say to lengthen them, which points pinion angle up towards the transfercase. This I can play with.

Its the front thats my major concern.

Do you need a 5 inch lift, go a 3 inch spring 2 inch body, problem solved COG lowered

with AWD, you have to make sure your front and rear driveshafts are at the right angle for the uni's.

10mm is not enough for a 5" lift.
drop if furthur and see if it corrects the problem.

did you put castor plates/drop boxes in the front?

your going to basically have to play around with gearbox spacers and castor angle in the front untill you get rid of the vibration.

I would be first putting brand new uni's in the shafts and tripple checking the slip joints on the tailshafts as they can throw it all off wack aswell.

If your driveshaft angles are not equal each end of the shaft you will get vibration and damage things like gears.

guarantee you it is the front unis, not worn but one is straigh at the diff end and the transfer end is at a great angle, the rear driveshaft from a 98 dual cab lux has a double cardon and centre bearing setup, get the d.c and shorten the shaft to fit in the 80, vibs all gone....
