Paj Vs Feroza?
my girlfriend is in need of a new car to drive to work etc.
she enjoys all the stuff i do so she wants a 4wd.
she was thinking about a feroza as she likes the look of them.
all it would really be for is DD duties and maybe a few trips to the beach and some light 4wd trips and weekends away camping.
now the question is does she look for a Feroza? or take my Paj (93 jtop, 33s, factory body lift, factory 5.29s, 2" lift etc.....) and spend a little money fixing the dents, clutch and timing belt etc....
it needs a little work to be a "nice" car for a chick to drive around but i think it could be done.
but i also like the idea of her having a little Feroza to drive around in.

Rozas are nice but prone to head gasket problems if you drive them hard enough.
Id say take the Paj as you know all the bugs that are in it.
It comes down to will you ever drive it ? If so dont get a roza, you'll break it

im sure you already kno the answer.
paj is more capable, nicer to drive on road, goes harder, already has a few mods so it can atleast play a lil and yes you will break a roza. only thing the roza has is mab econamy if the jtop is a v6

I disagree with the nicer onroad comment if you are comparing j-tops pajero to a stock feroza...33" and that much lift would make it a little tippy, and if she doesn't drive it correctly, could end up in a bad way.
Do you really want her to drive your Paj

feroza /paj
I have owned both , hey are both good but I would chose the paj. It is a bit more refined and possibly more reliable. I bent my ferozo from too much flex and blew a gear box and diff from water crossings. The paj I had for 10 years with no major troubles and they both did extreme 4x4. The paj is easy to get parts for and the parts are cheap.
dont get me wrong the feroza is good but I prefer the paj.

its lookin like she is going to get the paj.
in the end it will be up to her but at the moment all she is worried about is putting some seat covers on it and getting rid of the scratches

Buy a workshop manual and if /when you get stuck ill come lend a hand no dramas. also need the manual to get the timing marks.
I think i sent you a link for a work shop manual on the engine ages ago. very easy to do.
CHeers
got the manual somewhere.
only probs is i dont have the patience to do it solo.
id pull a few things apart and then get stuck somewhere and think fcuk it.
it might be worthjust spending some coin and geting john to do it???

I wouldn't be put off getting a feroza, I owned one for 5 years it was my daily driver, did multiple trips offroad and long journeys was great on fuel, probably did more than the 80 has so far and I never had a problem mech on road. The few issues it did have in the end were from me doing stupid things in it- like getting it absoultely coated it mud, spraying the engine with the hose and burning the clutch out.
If you can find one with a good service history and low km's it'd be worth looking at. Mine was a 1995 SX 1.6L EFI widetrack model, I added a few extras to it, the best thing I ever added was the rampod then later snorkle, extractors and freeflow exhaust, it had a really nice note to it and was super zippy.
EDIT- Mine was a Feroza II not standard Fez, they have a badge on the front guard.

whats the rest of the j top like - soft top, interior, lockers?

the sills are a bit dented but a mate said he would fix them and then we will pit some sill bars there.
theres various scratches on the rest of the body but should be able to be polished out mostly.
the sunroof needs to be finished so just needs to be taken back to the trimers. (its gaffa taped down atm)
the rear roof is fine
its got the rear locker
the interior is fine.
there should be a few threads about it here somewhere.

how much did you sell it for?
my GUBanzy wrote:Dial up internet.........you'd post something and come back 2 beers later to see if it loaded.
I sold mine for 9 I think? I was getting desperate as I had just brought the 80, from what i remember it had about 126k'km on it when it sold.
You'd probably get a really decent one for 5k now.
I paid a very cheap 13 for it (going price was between 15-18), it had 60k'km on it and was in a garage in Sydney- still had manufacturer plastic around the sports bars in the rear, bling bling.

is it only the sx models that have the wide flares? because she has seen the ones without and doesnt like the look of them.

There is Feroza and Feroza II- Feroza II in SX or SXP & CXI as far as I remember were wide track model Feroza's which included bigger wheel flares. May have been Feroza II in the EL model which had it as well.j-top paj wrote:is it only the sx models that have the wide flares? because she has seen the ones without and doesnt like the look of them.
I haven't seen a standard Feroza in widtrack but there may be? The Daihatsu boys will be able to answer it precisely for you.
This may help as well.

thats cos the paj is usually being compared to a patrol or cruiser.
compare it to ANY OTHER ifs truck on the market and mitsu wins hands down.
i still say this after putting 3 motors into a 100k old triton, tho i have bought a troll now
