Glow Plug Fuse

Glow Plug Fuse
Having a problem with my Glow Plugs i keep blowing the 60AMP fuse. I have a manual switch in the cab(Put Diesel Motor in Petrol Ute) and when you turn it on you hear the click from the glow plug box thing. But the glow plugs wont work. Cant start my ute without them just keep flattening the battery. Any Ideas?
How many glow plugs? I am not 100% sure how much current they pull but I would have though 15A each would be the minimum, which to me suggests that a 60A fuse is a bit marginal even for a four cylinder diesel. In fact without knowing for sure I would have thought they'd pull more than 15A each.
So my questions are (a) what engine is it and (b) are you sure 60A is the right fuse?
But in any case, I'd be looking for poor connections anywhere in the system... and also, do you have a relay running the glow plugs or are you trying to run them directly from the switch?

No, I would wait to hear from someone else. My guess might be off and 60A may be more than adequate for your glow plugs, so a bigger fuse might cause more problems than it fixes.Leighroy1984 wrote:Sorry it is a 2L 2.4D i am not 100% sure but I havn't ever had to change it do you think i should go with an 80AMP fuse. It runs through the glow plug relay
From a quick google it looks to me like there are a fair few different glow plug setups on toyo diesels, old 2L motors had 7 volt glow plugs with a resistor inline (similar to running a ballast resistor with a 6V coil on a petrol engine) while later ones switched to 11-12V glow plugs. Toyota folk will know more about this than me and will hopefully answer your question, but it might not hurt to suss out which bits you've got in the meantime.
