There is ABSOLUTELY no comparason between the Trailtough unit and the Yuri4x4.com unit.
The Yuri one we have on the buggy is tight and smooth, the Trailtough one is loose and sloppy with a little factory freeplay.
I've got the TT unit on the Zook, it was cheap, freight for me is free so i thought i'd give it a go. It won't be long before it does go and get replaced with a Yuri version.
Don't you have 1.0ltr CV's anyway? You do know what full lock, front drive only with oversized tyres will do to Zook diffs on rocks????
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
you gunna be using it on the road? eg driving at 100km/h?
i built one a little while ago works awsome
but dont think it would be good at highway speeds
it cost me $100 in machining costs
so if you have the parts lieing around its a fairly cheap mod

I have put a couple of trips on my TT one - it is quiet at all speeds and does what it says on the box. I don't think I will be able to break it.
I think they are unbeatable for the $$$.

I think Rhett made one by adding a front output selector to the rear of the case. Cant remember if it worked, try PM'ing him, or maybe he will see this and post up.

could you give a brief explanation how you made it?? would be greatly appreciated.........Rhett wrote:mine worked a treat and still is working great. I didn't realy get any pics of when it was happening as it was secret squirrel stuff. It has been one of my most valuable mods when it comes to comps. I still get a big grin on my face when doing a front dig
thanks

I don't know about that. I think it would go quite nicely with a twin stick in minemugginsmoo wrote:i don't think you'll need it as much as mecj wrote:I reckon it should end up on minesierrajim wrote: It won't be long before it does go and get replaced with a Yuri version.

sounds good but how did you actualy get it to bolt on???Rhett wrote:just imagin the speedo drive being repaced with a front output with its own lever. So with twin sticks I have three levers coming out of the same case and it is about 30mm longer that a stock case.
any chance of you snaping some pics??
was it a custom addaptor or??

Not bagging what you have done at all Rhett - I looked at doing it that way myself, but the sierra front output dog teeth are much, much smaller than the trailtough teeth.
As I said, I am sure that the TT one is nowhere near as nice as the Yuri product, but I don't think I'll be able to break it. If I did, I can swap it out in 10 minutes.
Steve.

Thats ok..Rhett wrote:mine is not fully bolt on. It has a custom counter shaft and housing. It was still not a cheap thing to do if you got to pay for tiging and machining.
i bet if chriss at rocktoy could get a go at making them he would make them avalable to alota people!!
common on rhett show us your pics!! as i have no idea how that would work!
I might have one for mine soonmugginsmoo wrote:i'll let you look at my twin-stick in envycj wrote:I don't know about that. hey steve out of curiosity do you know any one that has broken any front outputs on a zook
I have broken everything else from strenthened lux cvs, tailshalfs and gears but never a front output and if I did I have another in my toolbox.
Yuri done all the machining for me on mine anyway as he is a close friend. I could have got one of his units for not much more than mine cost me.
When mine was made the biggest worry was the cut and shut countershaft. as this has my series 4 rh hanging off them.

Its a wheelbase thing
No, I don't, and that's the interesting thing - the TT disconnect is about 4 times bigger than the front output - so the chances of breaking a TT disconnect would have to be zero.Rhett wrote:hey steve out of curiosity do you know any one that has broken any front outputs on a zook
As I said before, I looked at using a front output too, but for the price and ease, the TT disconnect wins hands down.
Not knocking what you have done at all.
Steve.
