HZJ79R Poor Acceleration
Hi guys .New to this group.I have a HZJ79R ute 1HZ and it has poor acceleration. It was purchased 2nd hand with 70000 on the clock. It had very slugish performance when bought.I have a brother with one of the first 1990/2000 75/78 ute with a 1hz motor in it and it runs rings around the 79 he has and the one i own. Since buying the one I have i had the compression checked ok by a toyota tech -around 580psi in all cyclinders.timing was badly retarded and 3 valves were holding open which has been corrected. Both fuel filters are new and the air filter is new.The injectors have been replaced and the injector pump was checked and found the housing was buggered .repaired at 2k cost including labour. The diesel techs closed of my egr valve and this made it even worse so i have reopened it. It still has no great acceleration but once it gets over 100kms it can rise to 120..One day out bush my ecd fuse blew 10 times within 15kms and stopped the car each time .Since then I inspected the wireing harness from top to bottom with no reason for the blowing fuses.I havent had any problems with it since but i have been trying to find information on what the ecd fuse connects to answer why it blew the fuses.I see on other posts that people have been installing fuel pumps before the filters to get rid of the flat spot .this maybe the answer but if anyone else can sugest anything futher it would be great. Thanks ian
