Post by loopy »

I have a 96 twin cab triton 2.5turbu diesel.

What sort of economy should I expect.

Are there any tricks to getting better economy apart from always going down hill

I have an NH Paj. 4d56 TD. Assuming it is the same engine you should gbet something like this

80L Tank
650 k/tank around town
720 k/tank highway

That's what I get anyway.

Tips.
Try not to stay on boost for too long when up shifting change around 2800-3000 rpm a little higher as you go through each gear. Mine hits boost around 2100-2200. I just had my harmonic balancer replaced as the key is often not tightened enough and it grinds out the shaft throwing the whole the out of whack. And timing kit done at same time as new incectors and pump. Cost about 5K all up but I was only getting about
450k's per tank before!

Hope this helps

I don't know too much about it......

That's when I can hear it. There is no really noticeable boost that you can feel just the whistle from the turbo.

If there is something wrong that I can adjust I'd appreciate your advice.

Cheers

mine is quite noticable especially on take off and the first 3 gears.

Have been thinking about aguage. Are they easy to fit? I don't want any big guages on top of my dash tho. Is there anything that fits nicely that you can suggest?

There is a nooticeable boost in first and a slight one in second but it's not like my friends 2.5 TD Patrol. You can feel it lift up when it comes on! A real surge.

try using mobil fuel if you dont feel the turbo. we were running bp in our 2.8td paj and we thought it was farked, but one day we got mobil and never looked back.

Its hard to believe so much difference from 2 different companies.

You dont need to permanantly fit the boost gauge, just sit loose for an annual boost check or for after mods.
