2LT running problems... Injector pump??

hey all,

i have a 2LT that is running like crap. it idles ok and revs ok but once you rev it it doesnt idle anymore. its like it haas ran out of fuel, (it hasnt ran out of fuel i checked) I have pulled the tank out and checked the pickup which is fine, i have pressurised all the lines and there seems to be no leaks, i have bypassed the fuel filter, only thing left is the injector pump, which has a leak while it is running, but i cant see exactly see where from.

Do you think its worth pulling the pump out and replacing with 2nd hand one or could it be something other than the pump.....

mate i would replace your pump sounds like the buffer in the fuel pump is farked
i had the same problem with my pump and i also run a 2lt but now with a standard pump turned up

p.s i have one but it isnt for the turbo but you can also just turn up the fuel in the one i have cheers russell

It still could be other things. Is there air in the system? What happens when it returns to idle, does it stall then satrt again?
Fitting a 2nd hand unit could also throw up troubles.

when it returns to idle the revs slowly drop then it misses for a bit like its a cylinder short before it dies.

This could be a sucking air problem or excessive wear in the throttle shaft.

Time to look a little further.

just a quick not eon the leak, check the shaft that looks like it has a water temp activated solenoid pushing on it, it has a two way spring with an o ring on the shaft that was leaking on mine, you could just catch the dripps coming out of the retun springs, if you look down its on the side of the pump near the guard. pain in the bum but only a 10c o ring to fix!

Thanks for the advice guys, thank god i didnt pull the pump out cos iots a prick of a job. I had two small leaks, one out of between the springs that bigcam said about which i havent fixed yet, and one out of the banjo fitting supplying fuel to the pump. i pulled thi apart and put a dab of grease on the brass washers and it stopped leaking. Fingers crossed i think this has fixed it but i wont know for sure untill i take it for a proper drive.
