My New but not so new Zuk wooot!
Hello All,
Of tomorrow at about 12:30pm I will be a ZUK owner once again of a Black wide track ZUK!!!!!
Only problem is it needs a fair bit of panel work on the side near the left hand side door basically above the rear wheel its been mashed by a motorbike and it needs to be straightened out a fair bit or I guess I could start on a tray back LOL.
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix such a beast or some home-helper tips on panel beating? I would imagen it'd cost sh1t loads for a pannel beater to do.
Will post up some pics tomorrow at work for all those interested!
Forgot to mention don't worry about the seats in the pic's they are getting ditched.
Thanks,
Qten,

qten wrote:I Was thinking about that but I need a bit of legroom so I’m going to have to offset the drivers seat a bit so just behind the pillar wouldn’t work I think.
Dunno,
quick reply btw
I'm 6'6 leg room in a zook is over rated.
Tube the rear but keep the floor, you can still move your seat mounts back to the step-up in the floor.

Well its mine. Sitting at home in the yard. Now all I got to do is decide what I’m going to do to it.
Hmmm.. I would rather have a tub the way it is so I’ll give it a burl to try and fix her up but any pointers form any DIY panel beaters would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Buy another shell for a couple of hundred bucks if you want to... and just plop it on top....
Of course you want to put all your W/T interior in it but thatit aint hard.
It could be made into a ute..... that would look good with a little alloy tray on it....
Hey thanks for the wood idea.
I've arked up on the car the sarvo its got a bit of damage to that side eh, well I’ve pulled off the flare and removed the b pillar on the left hand side which needs some love and I’ve started to try and panel beat I know why they call it beating the panel now. And so far so slow, I need a bigger hammer or a bigger block of wood or both.
I think my neighbours will love me forever if I ever finish ho ho ho!
One bad thing I’ve found is the drivers side door doesn’t close properly and the bonnet looks a little well pushed forward only a 3 mm or 5mm not sure on that one.
Thanks,
Qten

Pull the seats , set up a wood block down in the corner where the floor ,
drops below the seatbelt area on drivers side , on an angle upwards striaght across the car to just below where the targa bolts on , use the bodgy jack from under the hood , and jack away , hint doing this can hurt if the jack and timber spring out so be very carful don,t go putting your melon close to the action !
my sons hard top was a roll over , he had no bucks , with gentle pursasion over a week he managed to reshape the side of his car reform the gutter ect ect.

Hi All,
Todays update,
I've managed to get my hands on an Oxy set today. And I’ve made some progress. I've managed to shape a fair bit of the side and pulled out the body and undented the wheel arch. (Need to stuff the wheels somewhere: )
I’ll post some pics tommrow to better explain what I’ve done. Everything is coming along nicely.

Hi All,
Just to bling i mean bring u all up to speed if you're interested
I got my finger out this week and finally got the painting of the rear panel done. also the bpillar is almost done.
She’s not too bad probably won't win a show and shine but its all about wheeling really.
So a little bit more to do on it yet but hopefully next month or two she'll be on the road so i can start looking at the real mods

markil wrote:home panel beating tips? get a big block of wood, get a mate to hold it for ya against the panel, get a sledge and smash it till it lines up. then if need be do some fine toucjing up with a smaller mallet or hammer.
Thats the way to do it, but you need a few beers into you first just to make sure it was all lined up when you've finished.
I reckon about a carton would do it !!
