60 series 5spd to RR LT230 t/f

60 series 5spd to RR LT230 t/f
does anybody know if there is a conversion available for this to happen, if so where???
I wonder if you can find a 60 series box that ain't stuffed anyway, eg., 5th gear is always trashed and cost heaps to fix. Plus the 60 series box has issues with synchros which when worn result in gear jams - very nasty indeed - had this happen myself.
I'm not sure 60 series 5spd is any tougher than the Rover LT77, and certainly not as tough or as smooth as the R380 box. Just a few thoughts......wait for it...dare to criticise a Toyota product.........

Nice gq swb ute chop with a huffer for the good times
its all good feedback. the only reason I ask is my brother has one very cheap, rebuilt by BOGCOG a few months ago, he now has an auto in his 40 series.
I'm thinkin I might just stick with the auto and beef that up... lower stall and first gear.
Is there such thing as a full manual valve body for the ..not the torqueflite, the other one. I might just wait till LRA post up there findings on the Project Blue Rangie and its' auto build.

The problem you will have using a LC 5speed is the amount the mainshaft sticks out of the back of the gearbox. The LT230 uses a short spud shaft ( with auto trans) or long 10 spline shaft (man trans). Its easier to use a GQ 5speed gearbox as its mainshaft only sticks out the back of the box by a small amount--you need to have a spud shaft made up to go from the GQ spline count to LT230 10 spline....then have an adaptor plate made up.....Buy LRA's--would be easier...

Hi 360,
Have a look here:
http://www.automatictransmission.com.au/
Lots of options for an auto. I'm using a 3 speed tricked up C9 behind a 350 Chev and couldn't be happier off road. Would like overdrive on the highway though. Have a look at their manualized 4L80E (I think). They have adaptors.
cheers, DL
