Hi guys, not normaly a Toyota visitor as am posting for my brother again. He has fitted an Ecotech to his Hilux and has some probs which he was wondering if others have had. The speed sensor, at 100kph, says 40kph to the ecu and it supplies fuel accordingly, hence, 25litres to the hundred.
The speedo still says 100kph, but what the Marks' supplied sensor says to the ecu, is wrong and is proven by a auto elec with epuipment on a drive.
Also, the Commodore has two fans, apparently one is switched by the ecu and the other by the bcm. The new loom needs the bcm to switch the fan on, but it also negates the need for the bcm? WTF? . Does that make sense? The new loom needs a temp sensor to switch the fan on as it used to use the bcm to do it, but it now needs the bcm to do it, which it deletes.

buy an aftermarket thermo temp switch n T it into the commodore temp sender.
As for the trasnducer thing, send it back n get it swapped over, maybe they sent u 1 for the opposite box (eg u have a g52 they sent u 1 for r150 perhaps?)
Give Marks a yell, I am currently fitting a VP engine and T700 using only Marks gear apart from fuel pumps etc and I have found them to be nothing more than usefull. I went in there with the shits about a part(I'm from Newy) and was quickly shown that I was wrong in a nice manner and offered more advice. I have only dealt with the one young bloke but he hasn't put me wrong yet.
I am guessing that since you have tested the equipment you may have already spoken to them? What diffs are in the lux? Which transfer case does it have and what tyres does it run?
I havent fired mine up yet but I am feeling very confident with the information available through them.

Could be the speed sensor itself, I had a similar problem when I did mine. My dad was a t.v tech. so we hooked up the sensor cable to a ocilascope(i think thats how you spell it) and on the sceen it only sent a very small signal out of it. Got marks to send another one and it sent a signal heaps stronger.I sent the old one back and Mark's said that I must of driven through water with it.Pretty had when only just done conversion, been around the block twice 5km's max. and it ran like crap.But he ended swaping it with no prob's.That was about 7 yrs ago now.
I'd be interested in measuring my speedo sensor. I've got a VP V6 in my old Navara and I've had appalling fuel consumption ever since doing the conversion 4 years ago. I got my sensor from V6 Conversions (Pat gardener), but I assume it came from Marks. Any idea if it is a design fault or just your particular sensor? I do have an oscilloscope, but wouldn't know what signal I'm supposed to be getting from the sensor.
