My GQ's main wiring harness is fried; what are my options

Post by JBE »

I posted this in general tech to reach more people.

To cut a long story short, my main wiring harness is fried (half my fault and half a result f the previeous owners creative wiring). I opened parts of the wiring loom behind the dash and cables are literally melted together.
This caused some fuses (tail & corner lights) to blow on a regular basis and all sorts of other problems.
As far as I can see, the loom is beyond repair and would have to be pulled out for any attempt to fix it.

My car is a ’93 LwB GQ Patrol TD42.

I have a couple of questions:

1. does anyone know for sure that all the main GQ LWB looms are the same? The manual doesn'y distinguish between petrol, diesel and the models (DX, ST, TI).

2. Does anyone sell aftermarket looms for this car?

Thanks for your help.

I have swaped diesel / Petrol engines both ways and have found with wiring that it is easiest to source a complete loom from the wreckers. D/P are different st,pov pak the same. Look for one with the least amount of owner mods

Thanks for the response.

Just got a call from Nissan to tell me that there are no new wiring harnesses available any more.

Rang two wreckers in Sydney & Newy and no one ia able to help.

Can anyone recommend any wreckers??

Cheers

Your issue maybe that they wont know if they are 'complete' and undamaged, or wont warrant that they are..
