the dilemma,
I have a vehicle that has been written off in Victoria with major suspension modifications far from stock, and has major body damage. I have a parts car that is stock as a rock with a stuffed gearbox.
The plan is to make one car from both. So the modified car needs a new body right, but has been written off as repairable, and hence i have brought it to NSW to rebuild. So when complete though it will need to go to an RTA AUVIS station where it will go for a written off vehicle check, and then onto a blue slip and finally rego.
The question is, does the major suspension modifications impact on the written off vehicle check??? Will an engineers report mean anything for the inspection? am i best to rego the stocker and swap all the bits over or is it possible to just swap bodies and get the written off vehicle regoed as it is??? This is all in NSW.
I personally would rather the body swap, because i dont want to have to cut out the 4 and 5 link suspension setups and reweld them in and swap all the other parts over when its already been done, and i could swap the body. But if the suspension mods prevent me from being able to rego the modified one as it is, then perhaps rego the stocker and swap everything over after rego is the go and then engineers???
im just trying to figure out which is the best route in NSW???
cheers,
dean.

In QLD as long as you present the vehicle to the inspection station with a current Roadworthy certificate they are not interested in anything other than the recepts you supply from the vehicle the parts to repair the Written Off vehicle came from. The only thing they will check on your vehicle is the numbers. They are not interested in the quality of the repair as that is why you need a current roadworthy when presenting the vehicle.
I have a vehicle going in on Monday to a QLD Inspection Station. It had minor damage to the rear of it and the parts i used to repair it came from a vehicle i bought previously that was also a Repairable write off. I am just supplying them the receipt from the purchase of the parts vehicle and a Stat Dec stating where the parts came from.
If its the same in NSW all you will need is a current Pink Slip, a receipt from the original purchase of the parts doner vehicle and a Stat Dec.

yeh thats the way im understanding it, but waiting for office hours to contact them.
as far as i understand i need a blue slip, take that make a booking for the AUVIS WOV Check, get the check made with relevent receipts and all should be dandy.
well see how it goes, blue slip wont be a problem i can get that done, so im hoping to swap bodies, take receipts and paper work, get the check, rego, then engineer the mods.
wish me luck.

If yes rego the stocker and swap body's and other relevant information later on.
but at the end of the day it's the RTA ticking the boxe's so speak to them directly

seems as though, process should be:
- engineers report
- blue slip done by mechanics
- same mechanic that does the blue slip can alsoi do the WOV check as the car is ten years old or more, so long as theres no descrepancies or inconsistencies.
fingers crossed that is the exact process that occurs, and should be on the road soon enough.
