I currently have a GM V8 diesel sitting infront of a A440 auto in a 1988 FJ62 series Landcrusier. I am changing the auto for a 5 speed manual from an early 1984 60 series.
The current conversion has been done in such a way that the original auto bellhousing is being used with an adaptor between the engine and bellhousing. The auto is in the original location.
Is it fesiable to retain the current conversion adaptor and use a standard toyota bellhousing or should I replace it with a conversion bellhousing made for the gearbox and engine. This last option will require relocation of the engine due to the space factered in for the current auto adaptor.
Which way should I go?
